Split-T Management goes Seven-for-Seven over the Weekend

Split-T Management fighters enjoyed a flawless weekend, going seven-for-seven over two boxing events.  

On Friday night, during the Overtime Boxing series in Atlanta, undefeated lightweight Haven Brady Jr. stopped Waldemar Carril in the sixth round of their eight-round bout. Brady dropped Carril in the fifth round with a perfect overhand chopping right hand but was deducted a point for hitting behind the head. In the sixth round, Brady’s hard combination forced the fight to be stopped at 1:59. Brady, weighing 132.6 lbs and hailing from Albany, GA, now boasts a 12-0 record with five knockouts. Carril, at 133 lbs from Puerto Rico, is 8-1.  

Giovanni Marquez dominated former world title challenger Jayson Velez, winning a six-round unanimous decision in a junior welterweight bout. Marquez, weighing 142 1/4 lbs from Houston, secured victory with scores of 60-54, improving to 9-0. Velez, also at 142 1/4 lbs from Puerto Rico, stands at 30-14-1.  

Oshae Jones remained undefeated with a five-round beatdown of Sonya Dreiling in a scheduled eight-round junior middleweight bout. Jones, weighing 153 3/4 lbs from Toledo, OH, is now 6-0 with two knockouts. Dreiling, from Greely, CO, is 6-5. Jones battered Dreiling in the second and third rounds, causing Dreiling to bleed, and the bout was halted in the fifth round.  

In a clash of undefeated super middleweights, Donte Layne stopped DeShaun Mitchell in the opening round of their four-round bout. Layne dropped Mitchell with a right to the top of the head, followed by a hard flurry that resulted in a second knockdown. Mitchell, unsteady, was dropped again after a series of rights and lefts, leading to the fight being stopped at 2:43. Layne, from Elmont, NY, is now 2-0 with two knockouts. Mitchell, from Independence, MS, is 2-1.  

On Saturday night at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack, three more Split-T Fighters continued their ascent towards contendership.  

In Chester, PA, Greg Outlaw stopped Rondale Hubbert in the third round of their scheduled eight-round bout, headlining at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack. Outlaw dropped Hubbert four times before the bout was stopped at 2:31. Outlaw, from Bowie, MD, now holds a 14-2 record with eight knockouts. Hubbert, from Duluth, MN, is 16-29-3.  

LeAnna Cruz continued her climb towards a world title shot by securing a six-round unanimous decision over Josefina Vegas in a super flyweight bout. Cruz, from Allentown, PA, won with scores of 60-53 on all cards, raising her record to 9-0. Vega, from Quito, Ecuador, is 9-9.  

Trinidad Vargas remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Robin Ellis in a super flyweight bout. Vargas, from Grand Prairie, TX, won with scores of 60-54 twice and 59-55, improving to 5-0. Ellis, from Hempstead, NY, is 6-3-2.
